My Heart Rate Reached 250 on my cycle :S?!

Question: My Heart Rate Reached 250 on my cycle :S.?
i have not done exercise for about 8 months and decided to go back to it, ive had this problem before but im not sure if its serious.
I will do my weights for about 40 Minutes, then i will move onto cycling, in my old workout id carry on this for about 3- 4 hours but i thought i best start slow, i did the same yesterday also
However, today when i used the cycle, it was reading me at increasingly worrying rates, 200- 220, 230-250, then i thought wtf and got off.
The Thing Is This was from 15 minutes of cycling, at about lvl 13 on a 20 level cycle, im 19 years old and the cycle advises that 85% of a heart rate should be about 180...
So Im very concerned that my heart beats too fast, is this because i haven't exercised alot or could it be linked to other problems.

many thanks!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Don't freak out, your bike must be calibrated incorrectly. A human heart cannot physically attain a rate of more than 220 bpm at its absolute maximum due to the time it takes to reach an electrical action potential in the heart, so there is no way you could be achieving readings of 250 and still be alive to talk about it.
Hope that helps!Health Question & Answer
