If you mean the HOME A1c kit currently being marketed, the results will be close enough. Plus or minus about 15%, I think. However, many people have trouble following the instructions and can blow the results (something about the amount of sample and how it's prepared - I've heard about it from several diabetic friends). It's a single test kit, so it's expensive if you make a mistake and have to buy another one. Read the instructions carefully at least twice before preforming the actual test.
