Question: How did AIDS spread to America.?

I'm doing a report right now on AIDS/HIV, but can't seem to find out how the disease got here to the U.S. Some of the theories that we're going over in class is that a man went all over the world, having sex with many people, plus people who had AIDS in Africa, then eventually brought it to America. Is this theory correct.? or accepted or proven at all.? And, what are some other theories that are accept. AND PLEASE, I don't want to hear any comments about how "We had sex with the apes and brought it here" kind of things.Health Question & Answer
