Question: Just wondering how this heart monitor works..?
my nan is in hospital at the moment and is on a heart monitor. she will be on it till monday. Does anyone know how the information is received.?as it is a small hand held box. Slightly bigger than a mobile phone. Health Question & Answer

The box transmits a signal to a computer out by the nurses station, where they can watch and monitor her heart rhythm on a screen like a computer screen. If something unusual or abnormal happens with her heart rhythm, the computer will give an alarm. The computer also keeps track of everything that happens so the nurse can look at her rhythm at different times or print off copies of her EKG rhythm. EKG strips are put in the medical chart so there's a record of what her heart is doing at different times.

it should be connected to 7 different areas on her chest and just sometimes they put it on your wrists and inside of your angles, and the little memory card in there deceivers the pulses and gives it into a ecg thingy, if it a monitor that you can move around with you also must write down the time when you go to the loo, when you eat and when you have some exercise so the doctors will know what is going on when they read it because your heart either slows down or bacomes faster, i had one of them where i could move around.Health Question & Answer
