Will intense radiation ward off zombies?!

Question: Will intense radiation ward off zombies.?
I mean, from a practical aspect, would it be appropriate to fortify a zombie-resistant compound with rings of nuclear waste.? Claymore mines, I'm sure, are a much more vociferous means of destroying zombies intent on penetrating a compound... but are they more effective.?

I'm envisioning rings composed of potent source point radiation, with the goal of so thoroughly disrupting the zombie neural system that actual zombie penetration would be nearly impossible. The Zeds would just start convulsing when they were brought too close to the source point. Intelliegent zombies might wear lead cladding - but as we all know, zombies aren't *that* bright.

Backup with appropriate weapons fire, of course.

Any thoughts.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Zombie tissue is, well...dead! There's no cellular respiration. A zombie is a reanimated collection of dead tissue functioning at the basest level...like a robot. Unless the radiation is strong enough to destroy organic tissue immediately, I doubt it'd slow them down. I suggest you either demolish you stair case and hide upstairs, or avoid the cafeteria food..
