I am a pianist with fibromyalgia. I also play guitar, organ and autoharp. My story is at http://www.fms-help.com/fibro.htm I was diagnosed with FMS in 1982 and by 1990, the pain was so severe I was afraid I would never be able to play my instruments again. I even made a recording (painfully) of all my favorite piano songs, just in case I would not be able to continue playing. Then in 1996 I found some things that took away my pain. I have been 95% pain free since then and have been playing and teaching piano ever since. I am also a church musician practicing and performing weekly. I have 100 Tips for Coping with Fibromyalgia at http://www.fms-help.com/tips.htm A list of meds, supplements and lifestyle helps that I currently use is at http://www.fms-help.com/what.htm It's interesting that I hear from many musicians with fibro - some who have become disabled! I recently conducted a poll of the occupation my newsletter readers had when they developed fibro. It's at http://www.fms-help.com/occupations.htm - very interesting. You will also find many good articles on my homepage at http://www.fms-help.com and if you wish to subscribe to my free newsletter, there is a link there to do so. I wish you all the best! I know how much you love your violin and music, and you need to be able to hold your instrument for a long period of time and with your arms up. Not an easy feat with fibro, but I hope you will find a lot of help on my site. - A fellow musicianHealth Question & Answer
I'm a musician but I don't have fibromyalgia. I have, however, found some coping tips for you. Good luck and hang in there!
