Possibly breast cancer..?!

Question: Possibly breast cancer...?
I feel lots of small lumps in my breasts. Every now and then I get very sharp pains in my breasts and sometimes it gets to the point where I cant breathe... Would this be cancer.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I had breast cancer. It was a large, hard lump, not several clusters of smaller ones. What your are probably feeling is the many ducts and glands spread throughout your breast. The pain may be related to the time of your cycle you may be in. If the situation gets worse, still see a doctor, just to have it checked out and be on the safe side. I've also posted a site to a pic that shows the glands, ducts in the breast.

First, I suspect you're quite young - forgive me if I'm wrong. Breast cancer is mainly a disease of ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and it's almost unheard of in under 25s. The American Cancer Society and other cancer organisations recommend that women start breast self-examination at the age of 20.

Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous., and many women have naturally lumpy breasts. The fact that both breasts are the same makes it even less likely that this is anything sinister.

Pain isn't usually a symptom of breast cancer; most people diagnosed with breast cancer have felt no pain. Again, as both breasts have the same symptom it's unlikely to be anything sinister.

Although nobody here can tell you for sure, it doesn't sound likely that it's breast cancer. See your doctor about those pains though

Health Question & Answer

When someone tells you about a friend or family member having cancer, you often hear someone say, "He has cancer." Yet, cancer isn't just one disease. There are, in fact, more than 200 different cancers, and each kind can originate in any cell or organ in the body. All cancers have one thing in common - abnormal, uncontrolled cell growth.

Normally, cells grow and divide in an orderly fashion, involving a cycle to produce more cells only when the body needs them. This is a normal and healthy body process. Sometimes, however, cells keep dividing when new cells are not needed. These extra cells form a mass of tissue, called a growth or tumor.

Health Question & Answer

No, cancer typically is painless. What you probably feel are the regular ridges and fibers that make up the breast tissue. If you're worried, see a doctor. Health Question & Answer
