Would a TSH catch most thyroid problems?!

Question: Would a TSH catch most thyroid problems.?
or should I ask my doctor for a T3/T4 count.? My throat is hurts right where my thyroid is, when I push on it, it's slightly painful. I can't sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time. My body doesn't get tired at all (which is good during the day), but I can stay up for 48 hours now, and still not be tired. My eyes get major bags under them, my skins/muscles feel very weak, feel dehydrated, yet my body feels like it could climb a freakin' mountain. Than my heart beat gets very faint, and skips beats, yet I still feel like I'm weightless and my body doesn't get tired.

Answers:
TSH only catches a small % of people with thyroid problems.

Your symptoms are confusing. It sorta sounds like hyperthyroidism or a bout of thyroiditis which is a temporary condition where there is inflammation of the thyroid causing some discomfort and pain. I don't know why your are not tired at all though. It's puzzling.

It's always better to get a T3/T4 than a TSH alone, if your doc will do it. Most will not.. Health Question & Answer
