Genital Herpes Advice?!

Question: Genital Herpes Advice.?
I've had my first attack of Genital Herpes and recovered from it. I'm finding once I finish the tablets I'm OK for a few days and then I begin to get the symptoms again and need more tablets. (I don't have another outbreak of lesions). I've seen the doc who says this is normal. I've read that on average people get 4-6 outbreaks a year, anymore than this and you can get Suppressive Therapy. Has anyone else experienced this and how long before it settles down.? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I got roughly 5 outbreaks per year when I was first diagnosed. And I went on suppressive therapy - both to reduce the frequency and severity of outbreaks, but also to protect my future BFs.

Now, ten years later, I get 1 or 2 outbreaks per year, and am no longer on suppressive therapy, but do take antivirals when I have an otubreak.

I'm confused about what your symptoms are, since you say that they aren't sores. If you have a bad enough case of herpes to have almost constant symptoms (with only a few days in between outbreaks) but say that you don't have sores, I'm very curious what your symptoms are. Are you confident that what you have is genital herpes.?

I don't mean to be rude, but I've never heard of anyone having symptoms bad and constant enough to require regular doses of antivirals - but not having any lesions.

Health Question & Answer

I don't understand what you mean by "symptoms" and no actual sores.

Usually with genital herpes if you have symptoms, then you experience an active outbreak.

I've had it for over ten years and I actually had fewer outbreaks and then ended up getting more outbreaks as time went by, which is pretty much the opposite of what most people experience.

Take the Valtrex, it works. I use it when I feel like I'm about to experience an outbreak and it generally will prevent the outbreak from actually coming on.

If you feel you need it, you can take it daily. You may want to try that for a year or so and see how your immune system responds.

Good Luck.Health Question & Answer

Hi, I caught genital warts a year ago. I got my first break out and it was quite bad but I used the cream the doctor gave me and it went away after a few weeks.
If yours keep coming back make sure that your partner is treated aswell and you use condoms if you have sex whilst having symptoms.
also I find if I get ill (such as a cold or bug) or I am stressed then I will get the warts again.
It should settle down after a few months but if you are concerned go back to your doctor.
Hope this helps.Health Question & Answer
