There are countries which have people who are all exposed with TB but the TB is not active. These include most Asian countries. In United States, they have totally eliminated the disease that there is no more TB in there country. For an individual, I think there is a vaccine which called BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin) but I think this is only given after birth. This gives a person small amount of TB but not to become a full-time disease. Just help the person develop something to resist TB once he/she is exposed again to TB from the environment. To prevent TB, strengthen your immune system. When faced with a TB patient, wear mask and talk from the back of the patient.Health Question & Answer
Yes, I agree with you that it is becoming an epidemic. Always use PPE (personal protection equipment) such as gloves and if the person is coughing, suggest they use a mask and if they won't then you should. While working in a nursing home I got tuberculosis. It was not fun going through the 9 month treatment and it made me so sick. I have no clue how or who I got it from and it makes me mad, because that means not all the residents were getting PPD's (TB tests) before being admitted to the nursing home.
