YIKES! TOENAIL FUNGUS HAS STRUCK! Is there any way to undo this nasty nasty problem?!

Question: YIKES! TOENAIL FUNGUS HAS STRUCK! Is there any way to undo this nasty nasty problem.?
I noticed some brittleness on my two big toenails. I clipped away as much as possible, but a very small amount remains. I've been putting fungus killer cream on the feet.

Can I still nip this in the bud, or am I forever doomed to have nasty yellow toenails that crumble when you put on your socks.?Health Question & Answer

I might take a trip to the podiatrist. They have much stronger fungicide than what you can buy at the drug store. If you're lucky, you may be able to get the treatment for free if they happen to have samples laying around (I got two free bottles of fungicide from the podiatrist I saw!). The doctor will also be able to let you know what the best course of action is. Fungus can be hard to get rid of.

If you don't want to go to the doctor, check out http://www.footsmart.com and look in their foot health section or shop by condition. They offer lots of products for just about any foot and toenail problem.

Fungus Nail Natural Treatment

Fingernails and toenails are the common breed of fungal infections. Though it is common, it is not really as easy to disappear. Everywhere we go, fungi are present, and they can give different effects on our body. Like a nail, for example.

When infected, the nails will look thick and dull. Eventually, it will become crumbly and will result to the loss of your nails. Not only does it look very pleasing. It has a bad odor due to the fungus or death of the nail. Plus, it is very unhealthy and unhygienic.

Because of the strong resistance of our barriers against fungus entering the nails, once they get inside, they are as difficult to eliminate. There are treatments which can be either Topical, surgical, or by medications, to fight the fungal infection.

If you are unsure of the signs of having a nail fungus, you may want to see if the nails are becoming yellowish, and sometimes brownish. They also become thick and brittle which results to an easy breakage of the nails. also check if the tips of the nails seem to be crumbling.

To prevent nail fungus, you may want to avoid wearing nylons when possible and switch to cotton or natural wool instead. Do use breathable shoes when going out and always wash your feet and dry it thoroughly. Sharing of wash cloths and towels are not advisable, as wet surfaces easily transmit bacteria. My dad told me that he once got some kind of fungus under a toenail during college and after multiple failed attempts at getting rid of it he got so frustrated he just ripped off the entire f*cking nail and soaked his foot in bleach... and it worked!

Not suggesting you should rip off your toenails or anything, but maybe just trim them and try soaking your feet in some kind of bleach solution.? I just googled "fungus+bleach" and came up with a whole bunch of stuff. Apparently vinegar is a popular home remedy as well. Here's one article I found regarding the bleach.*

My dermatologist told me to put Vicks Vaporub on my toes twice a day for six months.

(I wonder if it's the smell that drives the fungus away.?)Health Question & Answer
