Could these lumps under my chin be cancer?!

Question: Could these lumps under my chin be cancer.?
I know I should probably go to the doctor but I just hate going on trips there and have a really busy life. Not much time for a doctor's appoitment.

Well anyways. I have these lumps under my chin area. I believe they are in my lymph node area if anyone knows what im talking about. Well I went to a doctor about 6 months ago and he said it was due to an infection i currently had and it made my lymph nodes swollen. Well the infection I had dissappeared 5 months ago and I still have these mysterious lumps. My friend was talking about how his dad had cancer in his lymph nodes(lymphonia or something like that) and now it made me think. I just wanna get a consensus here before I have to take time out to go see a doctor about this. Anyone here experience something like this before.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Chin=mentis. Under the chin=submental. Lymph nodes mean descrete nodular mobile small lumps that may be painful or not. If they are painful, it is a good sign that the swollen nodes might not be cancerous. But on the other hand if they are painless we need to investigate further. The first approach will be to put a needle called as fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and study the cells. This may or may not give a complete picture. If the report comes back as say lymphoma, then we need to go for radio or chemotherapy. If the report is inconclusive we need to take out a small sample of the node called as biopsy and submit it for microscopic examination called histo pathology examination. If the report comes back as "Reactive" then no worry. If it comes back as say lymphoma or other reports, then we need to follow up with radio/chemo therapy as advised by the specialist. If the lumps are not lymph nodes at all. Then better to excise it and find out what they are. It is not wise to try medicines or sit on them and lose precious time. If cancer is ruled out well and good we have everything to get reassured. On the other hand if it is a small nasty growth, then we have detected it early that the treatment will be more effective, meaningful and reasonable.Health Question & Answer

who do you think can give you medical advice over the internet...no one I would trust. I you think there is even a remote chance that what you have is cancer, go get it checked out. If you want to "bounce this idea off someone", call your doctor.Health Question & Answer

You probably have a tumor around your lymph nodes. You need to see a doctor ASAP. This is a very serious issue.Health Question & Answer
