How do I massage scar tissue?!

Question: How do I massage scar tissue.?
I have some keloid scars on my face. I don't think they are active, but they might be. I just had one removed and was told that the rest should be injected and that I should massage them.

Does anyone know how to do this massage.? I've read about the techniques, but how hard should I do it.? For how long.? Should I use some kind of oil.? Health Question & Answer

You can try a product or two that is designed to soften or rejuvenate the skin on and around the keloid scars. But it may not be necessary. Typically, when working with scar tissue, you need to keep in mind its stage of formation, meaning, is it within a few days, a few weeks or a few months of injury repair.? If your physician recommended self massage, then it is probably ok to go as aggressive with it as you deem tolerable. If you can trap the scarred tissue between your thumb and finger(s) with a pinching movement, then you should be able to feel the consistency or inconsistency it has throughout the mass or length of the scar. The idea with massage is to break down some of the bulky cross-formations of tissue that occur during healing and develop a more consistent (smoother) feel throughout the tissue. You can begin to pinch and friction with either linear or circular movements around these bulky spots until they begin to soften slightly at what ever pressure is comfortable for you. Typically, with scars, the more pressure and friction you give, the better chance you have in breaking them down. I would not recommend to the point of unnecessary pain, though. also remember it is a process. Results will happen over time, just like strength training. Consistency and repetition is key. Make a point to give attention to these scars a few minutes a few times a day. If it feels like the area becomes a little irritated, then decrease either time, frequency or pressure, or even all three until it has a chance to calm down.Health Question & Answer

I just had a laparoscopy and my Dr. told me to soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and massage it into the scar tissue for around 30 seconds and do this twic a day with a few cotton balls.Health Question & Answer
