How can herpes be contracted?!
Question: How can herpes be contracted.?
I thought that could only happen by sexual intercourse, or by intravenous drug usage.
Can it be contracted any other way.?.
I am interested due to the illness of a friend, who I would not have thought the above applied.Health Question & Answer

Depends what sort of herpes you are talking about.
The cold sore virus is actually a strain of herpes which can be contracted via kissing etc.
The chicken pox/shingles is also a form of herpes.
The sort that you are talking about can to my knowledge only be passed on via direct contact or contamination of needles etc.
Hope this helps.
P.S- in case you hadn't gathered then there are lots of different strains of the herpes virus- all part of the same family but different appearances/ symptoms so you may have the cold sore virus but this does not mean that you have genital herpes!Health Question & Answer
