My workplace is offering free flu shots. Should I go get one?!

Question: My workplace is offering free flu shots. Should I go get one.?
Answers:
My husband and I get one every year. Neither one of us has ever had a problem. Sometimes my arm gets a little stiff, and this last time I had a hard lump for about 5 days where the injection was.

If you are allergic to eggs, you cannot have the shot.Health Question & Answer

Yes it is recommended that you get one. Flu vaccines are 70-90% effective at preventing the flu in adults. There are some risks, but they are so remote that the benefits of getting the shot, greatly outweigh the risks. If you are allergic to eggs you should not get the shot, however there is a nasal spray alternative. Check with your doctor if you have any medical conditions that may cause other complications with the vaccine. Health Question & Answer

As a nurse, I have my own opinion of the flu shots. It really depends on what you read that would assist you in making a decision and side effects would be redness/swelling at the site, and if you are already exposed to the flu, may potentiate the symptoms. If you are allergic to eggs you should not get the shot. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

I don't believe in flu shots. I have had a few years ago & still got sick. I believe in vitamin C for sure or a daily supplement vitamin. healthy eating and dress according to the weather. I do and rarely do I get the flu. But the bottom line it is your decision to make. Health Question & Answer
