My ASL and ALT are normal, but my GGT is high?!

Question: My ASL and ALT are normal, but my GGT is high.?
I'm not sure what these means.? My doctor said not to worry and I do drink occasionally, more so in the past two weeks then I usually do. She asked me to stop drinking and I will 100% do it, but I am worried it is something else.

If it was caused by alcohol, wouldn't my ASL and ALT be high as well.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
if your liver is damaged, it usually will show elevated ALT (usually more elevated than the AST), and if the damage includes the biliary tract, then your GGT goes up. If you only have the GGT up and both AST and ALT are normal, then it depends on how high is your GGT to think in any biliary condition. The problem is that you drink, so that can make your GGT be elevated, even when there is not enough liver damage to have your ALT up.
So, if it is not too high, just stop the drinks, you can do it and your liver will thank you forever. If your GGT is more than double its normal value, then your MD should have done a complete liver profile including imaging

UPDATE: indeed, 68 is considered slightly elevated (normal values go from 3 to 60, depending on the person's age, sex, habits, etc), so that is why she only asks stop drinking, she will probably repeat the tests in two weeks from now, and that way you will have not only new values but a tendency, I would agree on not worrying about it until you get your new tests done.
