My hubby snores a lot and at times it gets so bad that he ceases to breath suddenly and then restarts. I can hardly sleep. Anyone knows the effect of snoring and how it can be stopped permanently.? with herbal or orthodox medicine, without side effects.?Health Question & Answer

If he stops breathing many times a night, he has sleep apnea. This can increase his risk of heart attack and sudden death if he doesn't get it treated. Make an appointment with his doctor to have a sleep study done and then, if he meets criteria, a CPAP machine will be fitted to him and will stop this problem. People who snore have poor quality of sleep and are at risk for accidents when driving or at work. There are no medications to stop snoring. There are also surgical procedures which can help with snoring also. He needs to be seeing his doctor for treatment of this before it shortens his lifespan. Health Question & Answer
It sounds like he has sleep apnea which is a very serious health concern. I would get him in to see an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist). My husband snores. He had tried all the sprays and the nose strips to no avail. He went to the ENT. He had oversized tonsils. He had those and his adenoids removed. He then had his sinuses roter rooted essentially. That was Feb 2006. He is snoring again. He went back for a sleep study and they said he just snores, no sleep apnea. If he had been found to have apnea, he would have needed a CPAP machine.
