My fiance was shot in the chest & died twice in the ER with a 2% chace of making it. ?!

Question: My fiance was shot in the chest & died twice in the ER with a 2% chace of making it. .?
They never caught the asshole who tried to kill him and sometimes it worries me. Its been about 6 months now and I think I might be suffering from PTSD. ( post traumatic stress disorder) I sometimes freak out and get upset and cry for no good reason. I get angry and upset very easily and I am very protective when my fiance goes out I am very aware of all the surroundings and I have been feeling really anxious as well. Anyone out there know anything about PTSD.?.? I know I should go see the Doctors but wanted some option's and advice first. IF you have anything they may help let me know... also any web sites as well! Thanks!!!Health Question & Answer

Wow, that is incredible, i am really sorry that you and your fiance have had to go through this.
I think what you are feeling is how I would feel too. Especially since they never caught the waste of life that did that to your fiance. That would be particularily frightening, to never know who and where that person is right now. There isn't any closure on that end.
I think that you should talk to someone, (professional) because keeping this emotion to yourself is not very good. Some people find religion helps, but its really up to you. Try keeping a journal to write down how you feel. Sometimes it is really hard to open up to someone else about very personal feelings at first.
I hope that your fiance recovers 100%, and that you do too. He may have been the one who was physically hurt, but you too were hurt psychologically, and so you need to take care of yourself tooHealth Question & Answer

First of all, I am very happy that your fiance was so lucky!

I can understand why you are so worried, and there is no reason to spend the rest of your life worrying about it. the sooner you can move on, the happier you will both be.

Professional help may be a good idea. Be happy! This is great. Many people would trade places with you if they could.

And give your fiance a big hug!Health Question & Answer

Yes, sounds like you are having anxiety issues and after such a tramatic experience that is understandable. My concern is for your safety and your fiance as well. What happened that he got shot in the first place.? Is he hanging with the wrong crowd.? Live in a bad neigborhood.? Just at the wrong place at the wrong time.? Hope all goes well for you!Health Question & Answer

You should go to the doctor and get medicine. i can understand why you wood be traumatized after an event like that. thats horrible what happened . but im very glad he lived! maybe you need to see a physciatrist or just talk to a family member. Health Question & Answer

well...try to not think about it....and the first step to doing something is believing you can. So say to yourself...i know i can get over this. And try looking up some things on google like stress help and stress relief. If this doesn't help, try seeing a doctor. hope u get better =]Health Question & Answer

God help you. It's perfectly normal to feel that way, actually it would be weird if you didn't. Go to the doctor, they will drug you up but it will help you no end Health Question & Answer

I am so sorry!!! What i know is that if you are dealing with alot of stress you tend to get alot of hair falling out and sometimes people kill themself at a certain extent. I know this might feel hard but even though it was your husband maybe you should let that go and move on. maybe there is another man for you. prayers are thrown to you graciously. I wish you the best. Health Question & Answer

Yes, you have PTSD. You do need to see a psychologist, and you may want to also consult with a psychiatrist for medications. Be very careful, though. Most psychologists and psychiatrists don't know how to treat PTSD, so they treat the symptoms as if those are the 'true problems' ... so you could be treated for depression, mania, bi-polar, or even schizophrenia. You need to get a counselor who specializes in treating PTSD patients and they usually treat only PTSD patients. I'm a psychologist, and I have PTSD, and I am now much better because I finally found a therapist who knew how to treat me. Try calling your closest University Hospital and ask to speak to someone in their mental health department. Tell the people in the mental health department that you want a therapist who is specially trained to deal with PTSD, and go from there. Good luck. Health Question & Answer
