Answers:
First of all, lymphosarcoma is an obsolete term for a malignant tumor of the lymphatic system. The preferred term for malignant tumors of the lymphatic system is lymphoma. See: .?CdrID=44115" rel="nofollow">http://www.cancer.gov/Templates/db_alpha...

Lymphomas are cancers of the lymphatic system. Your lymphatic system is made up of a series of tiny vessels that run throughout your entire body and play a critical role in your immunity. In some places, the vessels have collecting points called lymph nodes. Certain organs, particularly the spleen, are part of the lymphatic system as well.

Your lymphatic system includes certain cells called lymphocytes -- or white blood cells. In lymphoma, a white blood cell in the lymphatic system starts dividing out of control. Because these cells typically collect in the lymph nodes, an enlarged lymph node is often the first symptom of lymphoma.

Lymphomas get broken down into two major types. There is Hodgkin's Disease which is a relatively uncommon cancer found most often in 15-35 year olds. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is every other lymphoma that isn't Hodgkin's Disease and it includes over 30 different subtypes, some of which are widely different.

Not much is known about what causes lymphoma. There are links to certain viruses in some cases, but in many cases no one knows why a person gets lymphomas.

Treatment for lymphoma typically includes chemotherapy because lymphoma is considered a "blood cancer" -- it involves white blood cells and these circulate through the body via the lymphatic system. Chemotherapy is useful because it hits the entire body. Radiation is also sometimes used on local tumors. Surgery is typically only used for biopsy and staging purposes. Surgery generally won't cure lymphoma.

That is a basic overview of lymphoma.Health Question & Answer
