Should i consult my doctor ? recurring infections?!

Question: Should i consult my doctor .? recurring infections.?
Im looking for some advice on whether or not i should consult my doctor, i have the flu at the moment for the second time in a month, i repeatedly catch silly little infections, also i take cold sores a lot , my doctor two weeks ago actually treated me with tablets which are usually for shingles because no cold sore creams work on me, these made one disappear , but now im ill again i have another cold sore. Every winter for me is like this and has been for a few yrs now, i dont mean that i get just a little cold i get total knock out flus the have to go to bed type and even take chest infections, i have a chesty cough at the moment which is painful , physicaly everything is an obstacle. and i cannot get enough sleep .
I am not looking for a diagnosis here , but would like to know if any nurses or doctors reading this think that i should consult my doctor because normally i would not but it eels like i have no immune system , dont want another winter ruined by me being ill the whole season. thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

I would go back if I was you, I had a similar thing years ago, constantly getting colds, chest infections, ear infections, throat infections, it turned out I had a viral infection in my lymphatic system and I ended up really ill, so it's always worth checking things out.Health Question & Answer

To me, this sound like something is wrong with your body. You said that everything is physically an obstacle and can't get enough sleep, then I think that you should consult your doctor. This does not sound normal and the sings and symptoms that you said seems to be something serious. Recurring infections is usually the case of a weakened immune system.
I'm not 100% sure though, I'm only in 1st year nursing program.Health Question & Answer

If this is interfering with your life, definitely get a professional opinion. But instead of going to your family practitioner or primary care doctor, see if you can find a specialist in infectious diseases. They usually treat acute infections, but they will also know a lot about viruses and can tell you if it's something more serious than your typical flu.

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

If you think your doctor maybe diagnosing you wrong, get a second opinion. It's okay and most doctors are never upset by second opinions, for they are human. Give them a complete history of your illnesses and any other symptoms you maybe having even if you think they are not connected to your current illness. Health Question & Answer

I think you should ask your doctor for blood tests, as I think you may have a problem with your immune systemHealth Question & Answer
