Is there a difference between regular hand vs. facial moisturizers?!

Question: Is there a difference between regular hand vs. facial moisturizers.?
Every time I shave my skin looks like death for like 5 hours because its so dry. It also bleeds a lot now that its cold out. Can I just put some regular hand moisturizer on it or is there a major difference between that and facial moisturizer.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The biggest differences between most hand moisturizers and most face moisturizers are: 1) fragrance 2) dyes 3) alcohol content. Face moisturizers are usually more gentle (so they don't burn), so they are formulated with lower levels of fragrance and alcohol content. However, a fragrance-free hand moisturizer without any isopropyl alcohol will probably be fine for your skin. Some hand moisturizers will burn your skin after shaving (as will some face moisturizers, even post-shave moisturizers). Be sure to pick one for sensitive skin, especially if you've nicked yourself.

It does sound like you need to be using a special cleanser for your face instead of soap, though, if you're using soap (that you also use on your body). If your skin is that dry, try using Dove soap for sensitive skin (unless you have acne). You'll find that your skin is far less dry and tolerates shaving easier. You should also be using a moisturizing shaving cream (like Aveeno Shave Gel), since I assume you're shaving with a razor. Be sure to replace your razor blade or disposable razor regularly to ensure that you're getting a good, quality shave. This will help minimize nicks and cuts. Health Question & Answer
