This usually indicates a lack of bile in the stomach.

There could be several reasons for this. Either your liver is damaged or swollen (a form of hepatitis) and is not manufacturing it, your gull bladder is blocked (read: gull stones, cysts, or possibly tumor), or your medication is interfering with the bile in some way.

This is not unheard of, but not "normal". If you aren't feeling any kind of pain in your upper right side, I wouldn't freak out too badly. The stomach aches sound more like digestive issues from the antibiotic. As strong antibiotics tend to destroy the bacteria in your stomach which actually help you digest, eating certain foods - especially dairy - tends to cause discomfort.

If you notice any sort of sharp, stabbing pains in the upper regions of your gut, call your doctor or the hospital immediately. It could be a sign of a swollen liver, swollen gull bladder or gull stones.

The constant, dull throbbing of a stomach ache is usually benign. I would still call the doctor in the morning to let him or her know that you are having this symptom. Especially considering it's pneumonia that you're taking the antibiotics for - your immune system is already taxed.

I forgot to ask - have you been drinking any alcohol or taking tylenol.? Both can cause liver swelling in high dosages or when combined.Health Question & Answer
