Question for dieticians only please?!
Question: Question for dieticians only please.?
i am a type two diabetic, today I have to be on a very light diet and after noon nothing solid and must drink a huge amount of laxative because I'm having a Colonoscopy tomorrow. My concern is. how do I manage this being a diabetic, what if my glucose drops too low.? Health Question & Answer
Answers:
The laxitive itself has some glucose in it. When I had a colonoscopy, the doctor told me I should not have to worry about my blood sugars dropping too low.. I didn't have any problems at all. If you do, use hard candy to bring your blood sugar back up, better on the high side than too low. This is the instructions I was given last year..Health Question & Answer
I would think that a type two diabetic would be better equipped to answer this than a dietitian.
So, here goes... As long as you're not taking insulin, don't worry about it. Your stored glycogen will be released and converted to glucose as necessary... automatically.Health Question & Answer
