High T wave on my ECG?!

Question: High T wave on my ECG.?
Hi There,

I am a 31 years old male and I am reasonably fit. I have start jogging about 3 months ago and now able to un for 45 minutes at a slow pace. I have been a bit stressed lately and a bit anxious. I had a chest pain recently so I went to the hospital as I was scared. They did an ecg and find "High T waves" so they did the ecg again and it was still the same. They did a few blood test and also checked potassium level everything came back normal as well as the Xray. My bp 146 over 95 that night as I was very tense. They told me that this chest pain was most probably cause by anxiety or muscle related. The doc told me "everyone is different all tests are fine and maybe high T wave are normal for you". I am now a bit concern... Is there any other reasons for T waves to be high.? Any comment would be appreciated.

Regards,

Marc

Answers:
It probably is normal for you. High T waves (a specific type called hyper-acute T waves" is one thing that shows up on the EKG during a heart attack. That, clearly, is not what was up with you since the tests would have shown that. Potassium levels that are high can do it also, but your tests were normal. Chronic high blood pressure can cause a change in the EKG so everything can look bigger (most specifically the QRS wave though) So in the absence of those things, it probably is just how you are and is fine.Health Question & Answer

Tall or "tented" symmetrical T waves may indicate hyperkalemia.
You have got hypertension stage 1. Microalbuminuria and creatinine tests may be useful. Retina should also be checked periodically.Health Question & Answer

One of the more common reasons for peaked t-waves is high potassium. But if he said it was normal, then its probably a normal variant. Health Question & Answer
