Hi,

There are several possibilities.

1. It is possible that it could be very dry in your house or apartment. This can definitely cause coughing, especially at night. If you don't already have one. I would say look around for a good humidifier and ensure that you have eniugh fluids throughout the day.

2. If it is your bronchitis that is affecting you. Then there are some basic herbal remedies that can help.

Bronchitis is an inflammation in the bronchi, the passageways from the lungs. It is characterized by a cough that starts dry and progresses to a mucus cough.

Bronchitis can be acute or chronic. Acute bronchitis is usually the result of a cold and viral infection. Chronic bronchitis is a persistent cough that lasts more than 3 months, with air pollution and smoking contributing to chronic bronchitis.

Herbal remedies can help with both types. If you are having severe symptoms such as chest pain, high fever or are coughing up blood you need to see a medical specialist immediately.

You can try the following:
Licorice - Licorice soothes mucous membranes and is an expectorant. It also helps stimulate the cells to produce more interferon, the bodies own antivirus. Taken as capsules or as a tincture or tea, licorice should not be taken for longer than 6 weeks.

Horehound - Horehound is available in syrups and also in lozenges. It soothes a sore throat and also works as an expectorant. It is also
commonly available as a tea.

Peppermint - Peppermint has menthol properties that help relax airways and also helps fight viruses. It is a good thing to use as an herbal steam. Add 3 to 5 drops of peppermint essential oil to 4 cups of very hot water. Then use a towel to cover your head and tent the steam. Inhale this way until the water stops steaming.

Mullein - A tea or tincture, mullein is used to help you expel mucus. It can also help stop the pain of a raspy cough. Drink up to 6 cups of tea per day.

Wild Cherry Bark - Wild cherry bark is often mixed with other herbs. It helps to suppress coughs, and should only be used for short periods of time. It is best used on coughs that are the dry, hacking type. It is
available in teas and tinctures.

Hope this helps.Health Question & Answer

I have a friend who has bronchitis and she does the same thing. You may want to go to the doctor and he might give you some medicine. Here are some tips I found that may help with your bronchitis.
Fill up on fruits and veggies: Help keep your lungs healthy by getting the antioxidant nutrients you need from fruits and vegetables
Take some extra C: Help recovery from acute bronchitis by supplementing with 200 to 2,000 mg a day of vitamin C
Get to know NAC: Taking 400 to 600 mg a day of the supplement N-acetyl cysteine may reduce the thickness of lung secretions and improve symptoms of chronic bronchitis
Steer clear of irritants: Speed up recovery from chronic bronchitis by reducing or eliminating your exposure to smoke, airborne chemicals, and allergens
Uncover food sensitivities: Find out if certain foods trigger attacks; try eliminating dairy products, or work with a healthcare practitioner who is knowledgeable about food allergies
Get a checkup: Visit your healthcare practitioner to find out if your bronchitis is due to a respiratory infection or another treatable medical condition

1. You have a typo in your question: "cought"

#2. Your body makes you cough because it's trying to expel stuff from your lungs. You're having to clear your throat because some of that stuff stays in there from when you've coughed and when it's on its way down to your lungs. You need to go to the doctor and make sure you don't have a bacteria (for which you'd need antibiotics) and to make sure you're not developing something worse than bronchitis.Health Question & Answer

Probably to do with sinuses. Post nasal drip can cause this. So can the bronchitis though. Doctor would be best advice here. also can try warm mist humidifier in room that sometimes helps. Health Question & Answer
