How long does it take for a virus/ flu to leave your system?!

Question: How long does it take for a virus/ flu to leave your system.?
I have a daughter that had a blood test done and her red and white cell counts were off. She took it two weeks after her illness. What is the suggested waiting time to take serious blood test to get the right results. She was on the border for CF and we went to another hospital and had the work done and it came back negative. Answers:
As a rule, a healthy body can take up to two weeks to whip up on a virus enough for you to consider yourself recovered. There can still be remnants in the body for a few days after that, and of course the body takes a few days longer to return to normal status. However, some viruses are rather persistent and can take a month or more to clear off. also, any one particular test can always give you oddball results. You can sometimes draw blood on a healthy person, and the unlucky result of the draw is that you just don't get the expected number of cells for everything. You just happen to hit the patch of blood that was either scarce of a cell, or a little tighter packed- odd as that sounds it does happen. And lab normals can, and do vary from lab to lab. It could just as easily been a Coulter counter in need of being re-calibrated as well. So there are any number of explanations for why the one blood test could be squirrely. Fortunately your daughter had the second test done as confirmation, and the result was negative. I'm sure it didn't do the grey hair count any favors, but unfortunately it does happen that way sometimes. Health Question & Answer
