Is bronchitis really dangerous?!

Question: Is bronchitis really dangerous.?
I'mn not sure whether i have it but i have had it before last year, and now i have like a wheezy cough so i have a bad throat whcih feels blocked, but when i cough theres nothing there, and there's not loads and loads of mucus like u have when u have bronchitis, so i'm not sure. But i looked it up and somewhere it said something about "chronic" bronchitis where u have it every two years or something, and i'm worried, i've read a few times and been told that it can also kill u, i am quite worried now. .? xHealth Question & Answer

I would definitely go to your doctor. He might prescribe antibiotics and an inhaler. Bronchitis is nothing to mess with. I was just at the doctors last week and found out I have a "silent" bronchitis, I mainly am having bronchial spasms. It's very scary, almost like an asthma attack, but Ive never had asthma. I have no cough and little mucus. Ive been taking Mucinex which works very good to break up the mucus in your chest, on top of the antibiotics and inhaler the doc gave me. I still don't feel much better and back to the doc on Monday for me... Good luck to you though! Health Question & Answer

Bronchitis means a swelling of the bronchial tubes in the lungs, which usually produces a lot of phlegm. Acute bronchitis usually results from a virus, like a cold or the flu. You may indeed have chronic bronchitis, especially if you smoke or have regular exposure to contaminated air. It can only kill you if your bronchial tubes swell so much that you can't breathe. If you are getting enough air into your system, you are in no immediate danger, though I'd recommend seeing a doctor to figure out why you're coughing. Health Question & Answer

Your best bet is to check with your doctor. I had bronchitis once and I woke up not being able to breathe. There are other symptoms, however, but if this continues to go on for more than a week after plenty of rest, fluids, and cold/flu medicine (it is the season) then go in! It can be dangerous, as it has to do with your lungs and can affect your breathing. If you do have it and it's not treated properly with antibiotics, it can have lasting effects.Health Question & Answer
