Anxiety and blood pressure?!

Question: Anxiety and blood pressure.?
I'm a skinny 22 year old who never smoked, and drinks very very rarely

for about 1 month now I've been having anxiety attacks and panic attacks and my bp has been 130-140/85-90, but it was always 110/70 so it went up ALOT.

what can I do.? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
This is quite simple. Anxiety produces the need for more blood to flow round your arterial system. The way your brain (which controls blood flow) effects this to increase the pressure. (It also increases pulse rate and decreases the resistance to flow at the same time, but you needn't bother about this, because you rarely notice).
So that's why your BP rises. It's quite normal, and safe. It is, -in fact-, the way the cardiovascular system operates and regulates itself. If it didn't, there'd be something wrong with you.

This leaves you simply with the anxiety problem. Answer.? Prozac (temporarily) or something similar. Wean yourself off it as quickly as you are able, but don't feel guilty about taking it.
