Start of ear infection? constant internal itch?!
Question: Start of ear infection.? constant internal itch.?
so i may be getting the start of an ear infection in my right ear. I can hear out of it fine, but it itches sooo badly inside. And I know that q-tips should never be used and only tends to make it worse. I don't want to go through with going to the doctor, I don't want to have to go through the mess with my insurance. Is there anything that you know of that may help to make it stop itching so terribly.?

Sounds to me as the start of otitis externa. This basically is eczema in the ear.
It is recommended that you do try and refrain from itching the ear all though it can be irritating as this often leads to infection and inflammation in the ear.
This causes temporary blocked hearing and minor ear ache/pain.
As with many skin conditions it often flares up with stress/anxiety.
A simple dose of ear drops/spray from your doctor clears up any inflammation, all though dealing with the eczema is some what harder to get rid of as with any cases of eczema.
The only advice doctors give, after the inflammation has settled is to regularly apply vaseline/moisturizer or petroleum jelly based products to lubricate the skin keeping it hydrated.
