Can adults develop moles, or would it most likely be skin cancer?!

Question: Can adults develop moles, or would it most likely be skin cancer.?
Answers:
Yes, I developed a mole and I went to the Doctor but it wasn't skin cancer, thank goodness! Experts state that the best way to check to see if you have skin cancer is to do a monthly examination, checking moles, birthmarks and skin bumps for any changes. A yearly examination by your doctor is also recommended.

Most people have many moles, freckles, and birthmarks on their bodies, but since they are so common, it is easy not to notice any slight changes in them. Since early detection is key to curing skin cancer, it is important to really notice the bumps and spots on your body.
A common practice is to have a notebook where you note the position and appearance of any marks on your body so that any changes will be obvious.

Health Question & Answer

Adults definitely develop moles. At my last physical, I asked about one and my doctor had me expose my back and counted them. Hb was in the room and his back was practically mole free.

Some of us are molier than others. Very unlikely a mole would be skin cancer but, you have to let your doctor look at it. That's the only way to be sure. I have a mole from littlehood that looks exactly like the picture of cancer. My dermatologist wanted me to remove it but one on my face (looked like a beauty spot or dirt) was removed, left a scar, no cancer. The leg mole hasn't changed yet.Health Question & Answer

Having many moles is one risk factor to melanoma. Moles that change, bleed, itch, or hurt need to be checked by a doctor. Regular self exams are important to notice any change.

I would say that any time something new appears on your skin or an existing mole changes, you should get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.Health Question & Answer
