Health risks for excessive beer drinker to suddenly quit completely?!

Question: Health risks for excessive beer drinker to suddenly quit completely.?
I've heard that it's bad for an alcoholic to suddenly quit drinking. What would happen heath wise to a person who drank excessively (up to 9 beers almost everyday) for a year and a half was to stop drinking completely. also there are no known health problems. Thanks in advance. Health Question & Answer

There is no danger involved in quitting drinking all at once. It would be to this persons benefit to quit drinking this way. Just cutting down is not the way to do it, because they are still drinking. It would be no worse than a smoker who stops all at once. The body will most likely go through with drawl, which is to be expected, but only good can come from it........Health Question & Answer

There wouldn't be any health risks besides going through withdrawal, but that's expected when recovering from an addiction. The person recovering should probably drink lots of water, take some painkillers, and try to relax. Let me guess, someone who you want to help quit told you they couldn't quit cold turkey because of health problems.? Lies.Health Question & Answer

I wouldn't say anything bad would happen from that amount, except for a headache. If the person was drinking to a ridiculous excess (like a couple of bottles of spirits a day) then it may do some harm. A year and a half isn't that long for a drinker, if they had been drinking that amount for 20 years, it might be differentt.Health Question & Answer

This person should not have any problem if they where to stop drinking completely. I would however suggest that they replace some of the sugar as there is a lot in beer and most times when people stop drinking they crave sweets, hence coffee and donuts at aa meetings.Health Question & Answer

Well =D I don't know much about alcohalics.....but I personally would have to say that if an alcohalic Stopped drinking.....that it would only be good for them..healthier and stuff........but I do think that since their body is so use to it that they might have withdrawls or have a taste/craving for it and may be like unhappy/deppressed w/out it......well I wish ya'll the best.......=DHealth Question & Answer

I would say, 9 beers a day wouldn't affect that person really. My boyfriend went through half a bottle of rum a day, for 3 years and he quit drinking one day. He was fine. If you're worried, consult a doctor. He or she will probably have mood swings fyi.Health Question & Answer

If they drink that much then just up and stop completely...they'll go into DT's and if not taken to a hospital...they could get really sick or die. I mean they should quit, but they should get some help. Both medical and just...support like AA.Health Question & Answer
