Question: Have you felt people look down on you when you get SSD.?
I've been on Social Security Disability since last year and this past year I had cancer. I have worked since 1971 and my health has really deteriorated since living in Alaska. I had cancer surgery two times this year along with other medical problems. I've had the flu about 4 times since the surgery but employment specialists from my church keep sending me information on jobs working for the census. Do they honestly think I can go to work this sick or all they just making fun of me.?Health Question & Answer

One advantage to getting paperwork from these people is a trash can will hold all of it.
You don't have to discuss your employment conditions with anyone. They might mean well, but overall they are being nosy, tell them you are not interested in sharing that kind of information.

Honestly speaking I am not sure if you are really too sick to work as you have not given details. Cancer followed by Surgery does not make you permanently sick in most of the cases. We have a lot of cancer patients with different physical disabilities and a lot of social stigma who were and are attending there job !!! Many jobs do not require hard physical labor.
Flu is a temporary thing and is controlled with medication.
I think you are lonely and your thought at present is centered around your disease. Please break out from this jinx and go out and talk to people as if nothing has happened to you( Yes! you have to pretend and everybody will know that you are pretending to be OK) ! That way you will feel a lot good by socializing and people will praise and compliment your bravery and will in deed help you!
Unfortunately there will always be certain social elements that will negatively deal with you. Please ignore them and laugh at them!

Tell them to stop,you are to sick to work.If they do not stop,go to another church.SSD is not charity,you have worked most of your life and payed into it.If you are disabled you are entitled to it.Health Question & Answer
