How does being cold and wet help you catch a cold?!

Question: How does being cold and wet help you catch a cold.?
I know you can't get a cold unless you're exposed to the bacteria, but being cold (and wet) apparently help a great deal. Why is that.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It doesn't, I'm afraid it's a complete urban myth. A cold is caused by virus. The cold virus is spread through hand contact and sneezes and coughs which release virus-laden droplets into the air which, when inhaled, can infect your body.

However there is an element of truth in the fact, that a weakened physical condition which is perhaps worsened by cold weather can hinder the body's attempts to combat a virus, which may be the origin of this myth.Health Question & Answer

by being cold you lower your body temp. which isn't good. and being wet makes it easier cuz water conducts temperature and the skin pores make it easier for the water to not only conduct temeratures in but also bacteria flying around in the air. hope this helps.Health Question & Answer

That's really a myth. I'm sure that some people will argue that being cold and wet will weaken your immune system but either way, you answered your own question...you really can't get sick unless you're exposed to a bacteria/fungus/virus/etcHealth Question & Answer
