the only real way to have some kind of control without meds is to avoid allergens which, in most cases, is almost impossible. if you're using an inhaler every day you probably aren't going to be able to get off of medications. you may be able to get put on some kind of pill to help you with breathing like singulair but i don't think you can empty out your medicine cabinet any time soon. you may also want to consider getting allergy shots b/c that will help desensitize you to your allergens. until then you will probably still need the meds. i'm not sure about the cats though... i'm severely allergic so i just try to stay away.Health Question & Answer

I haven't heard of anything out there that can help you control your asthma in a natural way. My son has asthma and he uses pulmichort every day to control his asthma. When he does get asthma he has to use an inhaler or sometimes a nebulizer when it is really, really bad. I suffer from allergies and we have two indoor dogs and one outdoors and I take singulair to control it. As far as cats are concerned, not sure other than to get those that are bald and have no hair.Health Question & Answer

I hate to come off as a bad influence, but it's honestly the only the only thing I've ever done that's helped. I used to have frequent asthma attacks until I started smoking, I talked to my doctor about it and he confirmed that smoking involves deep breathing and increases the lung capacity; I haven't had an asthma attack in nearly a year. Other things you can do to increase your lung capacity (and the strength of the lung tissue) are swimming and free-diving. Free-diving is best..Health Question & Answer
