Suggestions from an orthodontist:
Normal gums are a light, light pink and when pushed on they are barely white. If the symptoms are a dark red and when pushed on lightly turn white, it is important to consult with your local dentist to discuss a brushing schedule and a checkup. These are signs of gingivitis and other diseases, and is most common to those who don't brush their teeth/gums after every meal. Flossing is very important treatment for your gums, and you should at least floss once a day, although I wouldn't mind you flossing more.
The healthier your teeth are, the better you feel when smiling.
Love and brushes!

Red gums can be a sign of gingivitis, or just simply not brushing well enough. You can try to brush them more thoroughly to make them a lighter color, but if it's gingivitis, it's best to talk to a dentist.Health Question & Answer
