I lost 20 lbs in like a month. Its amazing isn't it.?Health Question & Answer
I did it at the beginning of the summer and it REALLY jumpstarted my metabolism. I had drank caffeine since my teens, so it was a hard habit to break.
I'd say the jumpstart to my metabolism resulted in a loss of about 10-15 pounds. That, and the fact that I always associated coffee with stuff like buttered bagels. Less coffee meant less bagels.
Unfortunately, I've had a relapse back into the caffeine world because my fall semester has been crazy, and I've lacked sleep.
Getting back on caffeine, though, hasn't upped my weight, and I notice my heartrate is higher when doing aerobic exercise -- which means more calories are burned. I also run faster times with the caffeine.
I definitely agree, though, that switching from coffee to water could improve your calorie burning.Health Question & Answer

Stopping caffeine and carbonated drinks will have no effect on your weight/ fat loss. What will have an effect on this is if you are dropping drinks that are filled with sugars (HFCS's, etc...). When you look at 200+ empty calories per drink, and if you are at a restaurant with the standard of unlimited refills you can amass an easy 500+ empty calories in your drink alone, you have the potential to easily begin to lose bodyfat.
By dropping these types of drinks, I would guess that you could look at maybe 4-7 pounds per month as much of this will depend on the number of drinks that you were consuming. Depending on what your diet is , if you were to combine this with a more healthy lifestyle with regards to your diet, you could possibly increase this number to 6-10. Understand that you will plateau at some point and exercise will have to take over to continue the fat loss.
I would challenge 20 pounds per month just with dropping sodas. If this was coupled with additional exercise and a healthier diet it might be more believable.
EDIT:
Remember that one of the best thermogenic stacks for fat burning was the following:
Ephedrine (until this was banned)
Caffeine (triggers a release of epinephrine)
Aspirin (prolongs increased metabolism & thermogenic effects)
During the release of epinephrine, two of the positive side effects when looking at fat loss are the following:
-- begins to breakdown lipids in the fat cells
-- increases the heart rate (slightly as the amount of epi is still low)
Good luck!!Health Question & Answer
