Is it possible in 10 weeks? Currently a size 14 and 171lbs and trying to reach size 12 and 154lbs by 12/31/08?!

Question: Is it possible in 10 weeks.? Currently a size 14 and 171lbs and trying to reach size 12 and 154lbs by 12/31/08.?
I'm a 5'6" (large framed female). I started this year on Jan 15th at 217lbs, size 20. I currently weigh 171lbs (10/20/08) and a size 14. However my ultimate goal is 154lbs (17lbs to lose), size 12. My size 12 goal is what I'm mostly concerned with. I chose the weight goal of 154lbs because that's the maximum weight for my height to be considered a "healthy bmi".

But if I can comfortably fit a size 12 (any 12!) then I know the pounds will be reduced from my current 171lbs.

Do you think this is possible with 10 weeks left in the year.? I do feel like I'm at a plateau, however I'm looking to change things up with my workout routine and eating. All year I've been eating meat and cut out fast foods/soda, chips, white foods (as in bread, potatoes, rice. I eat brown rice, wheat bread and also have been consuming dairy (milk, cheese, cottage cheese, and non fat yogurt).

I have eaten fried foods, ice cream and chocolate but very sparingly.

Any suggestions on food changes.? Certain exercises/activities that you feel can get me to this goal.?

Thanks in advance!Health Question & Answer

You will feel like you are at a plateau because weight loss slows down after the first few weeks but keep at it because you will continue to lose weight!

-You need to eat vegetables and fruit!!!!!!! I know they are starchy but you need them.
-And eat more fish- did you know that smoked salmon contains 20% more protein than red meat.? and is really low in fat.
-Crayfish and tuna (without mayo) are also really low in fat.
-Eat granary and rye bread as well.
-Lots of green tea will also speed up your metabolism.
-Drink a glass of water before every meal to fill you up.
-Juices and smoothies are calorific so mainly drink water.
-The caffeine in coffee also speeds up metabolism but opt for a skinny Latte, americano or espresso and use sweetener instead of sugar.
-Eat regularly and small amounts to increase metabolism.
-Do a lot of brisk walking everyday and other cardio etc.
-Never feel full- stop eating when you are just about satisfied.
-Granola and dried fruit are good and healthy snacks.
-I have found that a breakfast such as smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on granary toast is a low fat way of keeping your hunger satisfied for a longer period of time.
-Substitute butter for an olive spread.
-Eat lots of superfoods like beans, pulses, chickpeas, edamame beans etc.- they provide a great source of fibre and keep things moving!
-Cut down on the dairy a bit.
-Consume most of your calories in the earlier part of the day.

-Remember that your weight loss should be a long term lifestyle change because if you go back to eating normally after you reach your target weight, you will put the weight back on and more.

Good luck!!Health Question & Answer

That's 10 weeks. So that's about 17 pounds you want to lose which is nearly 2 pounds a week.
I'm glad to say Yes, it's possible.

Try to take in about 1400-1600 calories a day, and have at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday.

I hope this helped!

Good luck!

First of all congrats on the weight you have lost already. Awesome job!!!
Yes its possible with some hard work. In the beginning its always easier to loose alot of lbs because alot of it is water weight. Now is when the tough part comes in. I would get rid of ALL fired foods, ice cream and any sugar. You should be eating 5-6 small balanced meals a day about every 2-4 hours. Drinking alot of water and no sodas or juices they have way too much sugar.
Each meal should have a protein, a carb, and a fat. I have some great diet tips on my site you can check out as well as sign up for my FREE Lean Lady Ezine, for some great articles on weight loss and exercise. http://www.maggiepfitness.com/home
Im not sure if you are working out at all but going into your finally leg so to speak of your goal you should step it up and add in some weight training. You can do it!!
