Is 179 grams of sugar in a day bad?!

Question: Is 179 grams of sugar in a day bad.?
I decided to count how much sugar I have consumed today JUST in beverages, and it was 179 grams.

The drinks were:
Orange Juice
Mountain Dew
Capri Sun
Gatorade
Starbucks Frappuccino Drink

I was wondering if this is bad for me. I mean, I know it is, but how bad is it.?

Remember, this doesn't include any food i've eaten, just beverages.Health Question & Answer

"The Guideline Daily Amount for sugar is 90g for adults, 85g for children aged 7-10 years."

That's quite a lot. Try sticking to just one drink, and drink a bit less. Maybe even start drinking more water, it's very healthy for you and it doesn't taste bad.

It is believed that the average North American eats/drinks an average of 5 pounds of sugar a month which works out to 60 lbs of sugar a year!

The recommended amount of sugar we consume should be limited to 6 to 12 tsp a day. This limited amount of sugar seems impossible to adhere to given the amount of sugar in all the foods available to us. Here are several examples of food and beverages which show just how fast the sugar adds up in a day.

Yes, that's very bad. That much sugar in drinks alone can lead to high blood sugar and dramatic weight gain. I would advise removing all of those drink except the orange juice from your diet and drink water instead. Orange juice is okay though since it's natural sugar.Health Question & Answer
