What exercises can I use to tone my stomach muscles?!
Question: What exercises can I use to tone my stomach muscles.?
I've lost a lot of weight recently, and want to tone up my stomach. I've been doing a lot of cardio, but I want to start focusing on certain areas now.
I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this kind of thing, and I find sit ups and crunches incredibly hard. Are there any other exercises that I can do to tone up my tummy.?
Thanks in advance. :)Health Question & Answer

swimming would help and its more gradual than crunches you wont notice it as much as doing crunches. then once you have progressed to a certain level then you can start adding crunches and leg lifts.
btw cardio exercises and and healthy diet will have a greater effect than just crunches, as you are toning muscles that doesn't fix fatty layer and loose skin those are affected by diet and cardio. I have known many fat looking guys who had abs as hard as rock but covered by a layer of blubber
a balance approach usually works best: swimming, a few crunches, eat healthy, some light weights(this burns a lot of calories)
good luckHealth Question & Answer

Ok, the most important exercise to do is control your eating habits. The stomach area is the hardest area to keep fit and tone.
What I do recommend doing is working your core out like any other muscle. What I mean is instead of doing crunches everyday, have one day dedicated to your core. Here is an example:
Sit up's on the floor - 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps.
swiss ball crunches - 3 sets of 12 -15
Back extensions - 3 sets of 18-20
Side crunches - 3 sets 12-15
If you have a day where you do just those exercises, and then 30-45 minutes of cardio you will notice your abs in not time!
