I'm trying to eat healthy but we don't have the money....?!

Question: I'm trying to eat healthy but we don't have the money.....?
I eat very healthy or else I will get sick. Just one cookie will make me feel very sick so I eat raw fruits and vegetables. But lately my family is cutting back on how much we spend on food so my mom buys cheap breads and pastas and foods to fill you up fast with little nutritional value. My waist is starting to get bigger and I hate this!
What can I do.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
it's not what you eat, it's how much. portion control is essential.

whole wheat pasta isn't that much more expensive than the cheap stuff--we're talking pennies. canned vegetables like green beans, peas, carrots, and corn cost about 50 cents per can. do you have a savings market, like aldi, in your area.? most grocery stores offer overripe or dented fruits and vegetables at a discount. you could also grow your own--now is the time for winter greens like lettuces and spinach. there are ways to get good food for less. look outside the box.

tell your mom she might be saving a little now, but sacrificing your family's health is not worth it.Health Question & Answer
