I managed to lose 48lbs in just over 6 months. That was over two and a half years ago. I have since then been able to maintain my weight with ease. I am also 5'4. I now weight 9 stone.

This is how I did it.

I keep all junk foods, ready made processed meals, alcohol, sugary fizzy drinks, and takeaways to an absolute minimum. These are high in refined sugar and full of saturated fat. The two main ingredients which are responsible for that extra weight gain. Junk food is just what it says - JUNK. With one added ingredient in - FAT.

I eat a healthy balanced, low fat diet of.

Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables (including potatoes - making sure you keep all carbohydrates plain and simple), low fat dairy products, skimmed milk, sugar free beverages and non sugary cereals.

Make sure you eat three meals a day. Always starting with breakfast. This way you are less like to keep snacking in between meals.

I also included more whole foods into my diet. Such as brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, beans & pulses. These are full of fiber and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.

I also took up regular exercise. This was running. Obviously, I had to start off very slowly, but now run on a regular basis. So try to MOVE as MUCH as YOU CAN. This will really help to accelerate your weight loss.

Although, exercise is beneficial regardless of your diet. 80% of your physique is a result of what you eat. 20% is exercise.

If, once you have reached your realistic target weight. If you go back to your old eating habits and activity levels. You will put all the weight back on again. It is as simple as that. This is usually the problem with diets. As they don't help you to make changes that you can maintain in the long term. So make the changes for good.

You have a life to live and enjoy. So hang on to the satisfaction of being a comfortable, healthy weight you can sustain.

Good Luck.
