Calorie intake and weight loss help?!

Question: Calorie intake and weight loss help.?
Started counting calories about a week ago, i used to be eating around 2,700+/day with no exercising, and have cut back to 1,200-1,300/day and working out 60 mins 5-6 days/week and brisk walking 1.5 miles at night. I am planning on weighing myself every month so I don't get discouraged, but I have to lose 120 pounds at least to get back to into a healthy range. I have no time frame to aim for because I don't know what would be realistic. So my question is, how long should I be expecting this to take, and what should I be expecting to lose per week or month.? I dont need set days in the future but an educated guess would be great. My starting weight is 265 and im 6'0. please save it if your going to be rude.Health Question & Answer

Hi, Candace, I think you've got some good things going on in your plan, but I wish you'd increase your caloric intake by about 200 calories, given your workout. I really think you'd lose more in the long run if you did because your metabolism would stay strong. A monthly weigh-in is perfect! I think that if you stick to your plan 24/7, then you could lose an average of 10 pounds per month for the first four months and maybe 7-8 pounds per month after that. You'll lose quickly at first and then it will slow down a bit as your body gets used to losing. I lost 85 pounds five years ago, so I have a couple of tips. First of all, don't think about having to lose 120 pounds--that can be overwhelming--just make five pound goals (or since you plan to weigh monthly instead of weekly), 10 pound goals. Every time you reach one make a new one. The other thing that I learned is that "consistency over time" is the key to regular weight loss. Highs and lows simply won't cut it--for lasting weight loss, you've got to get on a good plan and stick to it consistently. Your body will respond really well to that. Good luck to you!!Health Question & Answer

You should expect to lose 2 pounds a week on average, 104 pounds a year. Please make sure that your diet is balanced among green vegetables , lean meats and, once a day, whole grains. Drink 8 glasses of cold water a day. Your body burns calories as it heats the water up.Health Question & Answer

on average it's about 2 pounds a week. in the beginning it will probably be more than that and then later a bit slower. just go on and give yourself time to readjust to a healthier way of living.

good luck Health Question & Answer

it should take a year..Health Question & Answer

ok the intake thing doesn't matter much as your out put... i'd say stick to 2,7+ of healthy foods but keep the work outs up i eat around 7000 a day or more but i do more work than any one i know so eat often in small portions no junk food or snacks and if you can't live with out them then only once a week if you must... only drink water and milk, take vitamins, sleep right and you will be healthy within a year or less ( walking is really good for you keep it up) you might not lose 120 pounds matter of fact you might gain some as muscle but at least your healthy.Health Question & Answer
