Most effective way for me to lose weight?!


Question: Most effective way for me to lose weight.?
I'm a 16 year old male.

I am 6' 270 pounds, but, I play basketball all the time with my friends (most of them play on the varsity team at my school) and I can compete with them. I am not slow or nonathletic, in fact, most people would say I am athletic. However, I have been steadily gaining weight for 2 years now.

When I was 14, I was 5'11 210 pounds and very fast. In two years I have grown an inch and gained 60 pounds. I would really like to lose anywhere from 25-50 pounds.

I have access to free weights but have always been bored by them and after about four one hour lifting sessions I do not want to go anymore. I have never tried running (and would very reluctantly do so now.. ha) because I have foot problems and low endurance. I could try running anyways if it is the best way for me to get in better shape.

My main goals are to lose weight and gain endurance. I know running is how to gain endurance and I will try my hardest to get in a running routine, but I would still like to hear what people have to say about this.

How hard and how often should I run to start out with.? (I do not think I can even run a full mile at a constant pace)

How hard and how often should I lift weights.?

And.. yeah just any advice on a routine I could get into.
