How much exercise is too much exercise?!


Question: How much exercise is too much exercise.?
What's an average amount of exercise for a day.? What amount is good for weight loss.? I'm currently 5'5" and 157, looking to lose about 20lbs. How much should I exercise in a day.? Can I break sessions up.? I already eat healthy food, and only drink water. Health Question & Answer

Katie- How old are you.? You don't say what kind of exercise you plan to do. As a general rule, at least 20 minutes of aerobic activity twice a day is a good start, whether it is running, stair stepping, swimming, walking, or following Pilate's on a video. If you're serious about it, 60 to 90 minutes a day is best. Anything less is worthless and really won't burn many calories at all. But if you go over 90 minutes you'll most likely be fatigued and it'll disrupt your sleeping patterns. The best exercise to do is cardio like swimming, running, elliptical, skipping or power-walking.

I find it's best to do all the exercise at once - usually at the time of the day when you would normally overeat, so maybe after school or something. Eat something like a piece of fruit, eg an apple or a banana, half an hour before you exercise for carbohydrates and natural sugars and also drink three cups of water to hydrate you.

You can exercise throughout the day, there is no such thing as average. Its all based on personal preferences. If you think that you are just going to do this for a short time.
