What's better for my young son: weight training or body weight exercises ?!

Question: What's better for my young son: weight training or body weight exercises .?
He's 10 years old; however, I don't want the weights to stunt his growth either. I remember when I was in junior high I would see some huge muscular kids; but later in life when I seen them as adults they were very short; but still muscular none the less. Is it better to have him do body weight exercises like push ups and hindu squats.? I want him to wrestle.Health Question & Answer

I think conditioning exercises are best. Leave weight training for until he hits puberty. ^ ^Health Question & Answer

At his age he should be running, swimming and maybe doing things like sit ups. All of which will build muscle and cardio-strength. I would not start weight training at that young of an age. I would certainly talk to his pediatrician before you start anything that severe at such a young age. And FYI: Lifting weights doesn't stunt your growth. That has to be a coincidence. They were probably muscular because they were short and bulked up so as not to get picked on.?

also, as a side note: Does your child want to do this.? I wouldn't force something like this on him too hard. You may want him to wrestle but it takes a lot of work and dedication and at this age (or ever) he may not want to wrestle. It's always good to be understanding.Health Question & Answer

Umm.. what happened to just playing, like kids are meant to.?

Even if he's not in to sports, take him to the park or find some kind of activity he enjoys. Weight training at that age will just make him feel like he has to prove something & will probably cause later self-esteem issues.Health Question & Answer

Nothing, do you want him to be short like me.? im 14 and im only 5'4. And almost everyone in my grade is around 5'9, just lift weight, eat right, get 8+ hours of sleep everyday, and lots of protein and some other heathly **** and u should be good to go.Health Question & Answer

My wife has tried everything to lose weight but nothing has worked just as well as the acai berry pills she drinks. She shed 8 pounds in five weeks. She gets them from a friend at work but I discovered this site in Google; www.newloseweight.com they have a risk free trial on at the moment, maybe they're worth a try.?Health Question & Answer
