Doing squats and my arm went numb?!

Question: Doing squats and my arm went numb.?
I was doing squats yesterday and the top part of my arm just gave way, it just went numb i just couldnt really lift my arm. It didnt hurt but i did feel a slight twang before it went numb. Its slightly better today but what could this be. I have changed my routine and added squats about 3 weeks ago. Not really doing a massive weight either, it just really hurts my arms and back where the bar goes more then my legs. Think ive just answered my own question, im doing it wrong arnt i.? Does anyone know somewhere it shows me how to do it properly.? Health Question & Answer

It sounds as if you need to work on your flexibility. It is also highly likely that your form is not as good as it should be. Correct form is essential when squatting and most beginners form is not great unless they have instruction by someone in the know.
Go to www.stronglifts.com for instruction how to squat with correct technique. The website is brilliant and has loads of articles on squatting. The site also has many articles on improving flexibility. Do shoulder dislocations regularly to increase your upper body mobility (there are instructions how to do these on the website). You can not squat properly without good flexibility.
Best of luck and keep at the squats because they are the best exercise you can do for increasing strength and power and they work the whole body not just the legs.
The stronglifts 5x5 program is also very good.

The numbness is coming from the nerve ends from your spine. You can do an awful lot of damage(permanent) unless you get professional instruction on how to do squats and you are using too heavy weights.Health Question & Answer
