Whats a more healthy breakfast: 380 cal. top ramen or a 430 cal. peanut butter sandwich?!

Question: Whats a more healthy breakfast: 380 cal. top ramen or a 430 cal. peanut butter sandwich.?
i'm trying to be more healthy but i haven't eaten breakfast for a while now. i know top ramen is really sodium filled but it has 50 less calories than a sandwich. and isn't a 430 cal. breakfast too big.? thanks.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
430 calories shouldnt be bad. ideally youd want breakfast to be the largest meal you eat all day. i dont know what top ramen is but what you should look at is where teh calories are coming from not just the calories.

for instance peanut butter and jelly sandwhich
use whole grain or wheat bread and that will give you 2-300 calories from GOOD carbs (complex carbs that digest slowly and keep your metabolism running for a long time - meaning burning more calories for longer)
Use all natural peanut butter, will give you lots of good fats (the fats that arent saturated or transfat) which are essential to weight loss - and burn alot of calories in teh process of digesting just like good carbs. only downside is with all natural peanut butter you usually have to stir it the first couple times using it, which can be tiresome, but its exercise! even though a small amount.
use sugar free or all natural jelly/fruit spread. the natural fructose sugar or w/e its called in those actually are a type of complex carbs so they burn a lot of calories digesting. Apples for example cause your body to burn more calories than what it gives you (but thats also becuase of the fiber carbs from it)

so while the pb&j will have more calories i would say (without knowing what top ramen is) that the pb&j would be a much better choice.

you should not however eat white bread if you plan on going on a weight loss diet as that is a load of bad carbs. regular peanut butter has a lot of preservatives and usually has more saturated and trans fat than all natural. regular jelly has a lot of added sugar as well.Health Question & Answer

Go for the peanut butter. Neither one is a healthy breakfast but the peanut butter will not raise your blood sugar as much, so it won't set up for overeating later in the day the way the ramen will. Besides the sodium in the ramen wil raise your blood pressure.Health Question & Answer
