i dont know pounds, so i'll assume you dont need to lose that much. never eat under 1200 cals - i did and it gives u real weight probs cause it destroyes your metabolism. what you eat and how much - long for - you exercise is most important. try to avoid processed foods. aim to do an hour of exercise a day. eat balanced meals. really, it is whatever works for you. some people find that 1200 is not enough food and energy to keep up exercise. you can make sure that you are full - this is most important and still lower your caloric intake. fill up on vegetables and all the right foods.

three serves of protein a day - egg, meat etc
2 dairy
2 fruit
5+ veges
water water water
Health Question & Answer

That's hard to answer without knowing 1. about how many calories you currently consume and 2. how active you are. If you are active you need more calories. The more physical activity you get, the more calories you can eat and not gain any weight.

I could guess 1,700 a day but thats just a guess.

Health Question & Answer

You should be focused more on exercising everyday than reducing your calorie intake - assuming you're diet isn't full of excess calories from fatty foods and sugars. Make sure you're exercising for at least 20-30 minutes 5+ days a week.

As for dieting, try replacing soda with water - using those Crystal Light drink flavorings can help. Replace junk foods like chips and candy with fruits and veggies. But don't obsess over your calorie intake.
