Many people say that smoking is a substitute for eating. Many people eat snacks during the day, but people who smoke tend to smoke instead of eating snacks. So what actually happens when you smoke is that you eat less, it doesn't change your metabolism or anything - you just eat less. It gives you something to do, something to have in your mouth, that kind of thing.

You're probably right that quitting smoking would make you gain weight. Not a lot, but some. However, smoking is MUCH worse for you than having a few extra pounds. You will die faster, no question about it. Plus it's more expensive! I really recommend quitting smoking.Health Question & Answer

it's Ok if your over weight, most people who smoke eat less because they crave cigarettes more than they do food. The bad is that your smoking; not smoking is much better. Smoking will get the best of you if not soon it will latter.

Smoking can diminish nutrients from your body and take away appetite. There are other ways of losing weight that don't involve smoking but unfortunately they don't work as fast. i know it's hard to stop smoking especially if it's keeping you slim. Just don't forget that smoking is bad for you and you might stop someday. if you deny that it will be harder to give up smoking.Health Question & Answer

when you start smoking it does increase your metabolism until you adjust to it so when you quit your metabolism will slow down a bit.

most people gain weight when trying to quit though becasue they are trying to relieve the nicotine cravings with food which just isnt going to work

best advice when you quit smoking start exercising regularly, the exercise will increase your metabolism and the endorphins may help with the cravingsHealth Question & Answer

its not good because your losing it from smoking which harms your body the reason why you lost weight is because smoking kills your appetite and burns your weight of your body quickly.it also burns away the nutrients that our body needs to be healthy and functioning properly. If you want to lose weight, smoking is not the ticket for you. Rather than smoking, you should try simple exercises. You do not have to go to the gym to get some exercise. You could chose to walk when you need to go to the neighborhood store instead of drive.also, instead of eating three times a day, you can try eating small, nutritious snacks every two or three hours. In this way, you will not feel hungry at all, and yet your body will remain nourished and actually increase its metabolism. Health Question & Answer
