Lose strength with diet?!


Question: Lose strength with diet.?
Right now I'm slightly overweight but I find that I am significantly stronger than people who are fit, workout and even people who are bigger than me.

I was wondering, with dieting by consuming less calories than I need to maintain the same weight, will I become weaker.?

If so, is it possible to maintain my strength whilst dieting.?
